Personal distance

The intimate distance appears among closely related people unconsciously. And people feel good being situated at such distance. But changes in the personal space may be the sign of the relations of new type appearance. The vivid example of this phenomenon is a guy and a girl that just met each other making the social distance, but with the development of relations distance is changed into the personal and later into the intimate.

According to the space arrangement of several people it is possible to define who likes whom even if people don't demonstrate their feelings and attitude. The good attitude to the certain person is reflected in the turned body, head and feet directed to him/her. And if during communication you got bored by a person but you want to talk to the interesting girl, probably your body will have the same position but your feet will be directed to the interesting woman.

Being in the certain room, very often people get into the small groups and start to discuss something in these groups. It is interesting to watch the ways of nonverbal communication in such situation. For example, when the stranger tries to get to the group first he/she comes to it closer. Then the group watches him/her and if he/she caused antipathy the circle of talking people gets narrow and the stranger is left alone. But if he/she attracted attention of talking people a little gap is made where the newcomer can get. In the case of loosing interest to the person the circle pushes him/her away making the chain of active participants.
